Established in 1971 by the Ghalib Institute, the museum is named after its founder, Begum Abida Ahmed (wife of former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed). It was created following the 1969 Ghalib Centenary celebrations to house personal relics and provide a visual history of the poet's life and times.
The collection features personal belongings of Mirza Ghalib, unpublished letters, and dioramas depicting his era. It also includes an extensive range of postage stamps issued in his honor and specialized artworks inspired by his poetry.
Ghalib's Personal Relics: The museum uniquely preserves Ghalib's original pen-and-ink pots (Qalam-Dawat), headgear, and unpublished handwritten letters. It also features life-sized scale models illustrating key moments from his life in 19th-century Delhi.
