Museum Introduction

Built in the 18th century by Amar Chand Badwa, Prime Minister of Mewar, this 138-room mansion sits on the Gangaur Ghat of Lake Pichola. It was restored in 1986 by the West Zone Cultural Centre to preserve Mewar’s aristocratic lifestyle and regional architectural heritage.

The collection includes traditional Mewari costumes, historical paintings, royal jewelry boxes, copper vessels, household artifacts, and a dedicated section for musical instruments and indoor games like dice.

Unique Historical Collections

Features the "Indra Viman" (a rare royal elephant chariot from Jhalawar), the world’s largest turban, and the "Shringar Kaksh" (women’s quarters) with two famous original 18th-century glass mosaic peacocks.
