Established on April 20, 1954, Badal Bhoi Tribal Museum is the oldest of its kind in Madhya Pradesh. It was renamed in 1997 to honor Badal Bhoi, a revolutionary tribal leader and freedom fighter known as the "Gandhi of Chhindwara." The museum recently underwent a major ₹33-crore renovation and was virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister in November 2024 to celebrate tribal freedom fighters.
The collection spans 14 rooms and 4 galleries, documenting the culture of approximately 45 tribal communities from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It includes traditional costumes, ornaments, agricultural implements, household utensils, and depictions of religious practices.
Tribal Freedom Fighter Legacy: The newly curated sections uniquely highlight the contributions of heroes like Tantya Bhil, Bhima Nayak, and Shankar Shah through specialized bamboo, iron, and clay crafts. Notable artifacts include peacock feather shields and the distinctive Korku posthumous pillars.
