Museum Introduction

Located within the Auniati Satra on Majuli Island, this museum was established to preserve the rich cultural and religious legacy of the Vaishnavite monastery founded in 1653. It serves as a vital repository for Ahom-era artifacts and Satriya cultural objects. The museum provides a deep insight into the spiritual and administrative history of one of Assam's most influential Satras.

General Collections

The collection consists of ancient manuscripts, traditional Satriya costumes, jewelry, and ivory crafts. It also houses historical weapons, copper plates, and various ceremonial items used in Satriya rituals over the centuries.

Ahom Royal Artifacts: The museum features a highly significant collection of gifts and land grants bestowed by Ahom Kings, including an ivory mat and a collection of "Hasti-Vidyarnava" (manuscripts on elephant care) related items.
