Situated within the historic Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb complex, this museum was established to preserve artifacts excavated from the nearby "Raja Harsha-ka-Tila" and Bhagwanpura. It chronicles the continuous habitation of Thanesar from the 1st century AD through the Mughal period. The museum is a key site for understanding the Vardhana dynasty.
The collection spans six cultural periods including Kushana, Gupta, Post-Gupta (Vardhana), and Mughal eras. It features stone and terracotta sculptures, pottery (including Painted Grey Ware), ornaments, ritualistic objects, and copper implements.
Houses rare terracotta sealings from the Gupta period, including a unique sealing depicting a composite female deity (Lakshmi-Parvati). It also contains significant artifacts from Bhagwanpura, a site crucial for showing the overlap between Late Harappan and Painted Grey Ware cultures.
