Established on November 7, 1971, by the then Vice President of India, Shri G.S. Pathak, this museum is located within the Vishvesvaranand Vishva Bandhu Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies (VVRI). It was primarily created to house the significant archaeological finds from the nearby site of Dholbaha.
The collection includes Harappan-era pottery, fossils of rare animals from the Shivalik range, stone tools, and a diverse range of sculptures from the Gurjara-Pratihara and Paramara periods.
It houses significant artifacts from Dholbaha, an ancient site with evidence of inhabitation ranging from the Pleistocene period to the medieval era, including distinctive sandstone sculptures from the 7th to 12th centuries CE.
