Opened in 2005, the museum is housed in the Durbar Hall of the Arakkal Kettu (Palace), the residence of Kerala's only Muslim royal family. The dynasty once ruled the Malabar coast and the Lakshadweep Islands. It is a unique site that reflects the history of the Arakkal Ali Rajas and their matriarchal system of descent.
Heirlooms and artifacts of the royal family, including antique furniture, silverware, traditional cookware, and maritime navigational instruments. It also features a collection of royal portraits and photographs of the Arakkal rulers.
The museum preserves the Arakkal Royal Seal, rare royal copies of the Holy Quran, and the original execution order of Sepoy Mangal Pandey (historically linked to the family's administrative records).
