Museum Introduction

Opened in 1993 and designed by the renowned architect Charles Correa, Jawahar Kala Kendra was commissioned by the Government of Rajasthan to preserve and promote the state's rich arts and crafts. Located on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, the center's architectural plan is an analogue of the original city plan of Jaipur, inspired by the Vastu Purush Mandala and the concept of the nine planets (Navgraha)

General Collections

The center houses a diverse repository of cultural artifacts including traditional miniature paintings, historical photographs, ethnic jewelry, folk musical instruments, and contemporary artworks by renowned Indian and global artists.

Unique Historical Collections

Features the Navgraha theme where each of the eight blocks is dedicated to a planet, reflecting its specific astrological character in color and function. Notable highlights include a prized ornate antique carriage in the Ketu block and ceiling murals depicting Jain mythology and cosmology in the entrance plaza.
