Established by the Desert Corps of the Indian Army, the Jaisalmer War Museum is located on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway. It was inaugurated on August 24, 2015, to commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers, specifically focusing on the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars. The museum is popularly known as 'JWM' and serves as a major tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Longewala.
The museum is divided into three main sections: the 'Longewala Hall', the 'Indian Army Hall', and an outdoor park. The indoor galleries display a variety of military equipment, uniforms, and historical photographs, while the outdoor area showcases captured enemy tanks and decommissioned Indian weaponry.
Features a dedicated gallery on the Battle of Longewala, including a 15-minute documentary film that details the night of December 4-5, 1971. It also displays a Hunter fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force that played a pivotal role in destroying enemy tank regiments during the conflict.
