Inaugurated in February 2015, the Jadunath Bhawan Museum and Resource Centre is housed in the former residence of the eminent historian Sir Jadunath Sarkar (1870–1958) at 10 Lake Terrace, Kolkata. It was established with a grant from the Ministry of Culture to preserve the legacy of Sir Jadunath and serve as a premier archival and documentation center for social science research in Eastern India.
The center maintains an extensive collection of digital and analogue materials, including rare Bengali and Assamese periodicals, newspapers, photographs, and commercial art from the mid-19th to the 20th century. It also houses the private book collections and papers of several distinguished scholars.
Features the Jadunath Sarkar Gallery, situated in the historian's original ground-floor study. It contains his personal study table, his original fan, and the cot where he passed away in 1958, arranged precisely as it was during his lifetime to reflect his frugal lifestyle.
