Established in 1985 by the Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chandigarh, the International Dolls Museum is located within the Bal Bhawan complex in Sector 23. It was conceptualized to provide a world-class cultural and educational experience for children by showcasing the diversity of global heritage through dolls and toys.
The museum houses a collection of approximately 250-300 dolls sourced from over 32 countries, including Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Korea, Russia, and Spain. A significant portion of the gallery is dedicated to Indian heritage, featuring dolls dressed in the authentic traditional attire of various Indian states and ethnic groups.
Features a unique working toy railway train gifted by the Netherlands, which navigates a miniature landscape. It also houses rare, high-quality porcelain and wooden dolls from the erstwhile USSR and East Germany (GDR).
