Established in 1985 and located in the historic Wellington House in Mysuru, this is the regional center of the Bhopal-based National Museum of Mankind. It aims to document and preserve the diverse traditional cultures and indigenous lifestyles of South India through indoor and outdoor exhibits.
A wide range of ethnographic objects including traditional household utensils, agricultural implements, folk art, and textiles. The center also features architectural models and life-size replicas of traditional dwellings from various South Indian communities.
Housed in the Wellington House, a heritage building constructed in 1799 which served as the residence of Arthur Wellesley (the Duke of Wellington) during the British administration of Mysore.
