Dedicated to the nation in June 2022, "Dharohar" is the first museum of its kind in India. Housed in a 400-year-old heritage building known as "Alfandega" (The Blue Building), it showcases the evolution of taxation and the pivotal role of the Customs department in safeguarding the nation's economic and cultural frontiers.
Displays seized antiquities, endangered wildlife specimens, illicit narcotics samples, and chronicled cases of smuggling. The first floor is dedicated to the history of Central Excise and the journey toward the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
A rare, handwritten copy of the Ain-i-Akbari (seized at the Indo-Nepal border) and a gold-gilded idol of Jambala (the Buddhist God of Wealth). It also features astronomical instruments from the medieval period.
