Inaugurated on June 22, 2019, to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imphal, this museum is located at the foothills of Red Hill (Maibam Lokpa Ching). It was established as a joint initiative of the Nippon Foundation, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and the Manipur Tourism Forum to commemorate the victims of the war and promote reconciliation.
The collection is divided into three sections: war-era archaeological finds and timelines, post-war recovery scenarios (including 20th-century technology), and the indigenous life and culture of Manipur.
Features the Japanese calligraphy of the word "Heiwa" (Peace) gifted by former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, alongside personal diaries and artifacts donated by Japanese and British war veterans.
