Established in 1977, the Government Tulsi Archaeological Museum is located in Ramvan, approximately 16 km from Satna in Madhya Pradesh. It was founded to house the extensive collection of the Manas Sangha Trust, which had been gathering antiquities since 1925. The museum is dedicated to preserving the archaeological wealth of the Vindhyan region and commemorates the legendary poet Tulsidas.
The museum houses 2,368 cataloged objects, including stone sculptures, metal images, rare coins, and inscriptions. Its galleries are organized by theme and period, covering the Shunga, Gupta, Kalachuri, and Chandela schools of art. It also maintains a significant collection of terracotta figures and ancient manuscripts.
Bharhut Gallery: A vital collection of 81 artifacts from the 2nd-century BCE Bharhut Stupa, featuring rail-pillars (stambhas) and lotus medallions. Gupta Period Gallery: Rare sculptures from Khoh and Bhumra, including a unique Veenadhari Shiva. Ramayana Manuscripts: Exceptional handwritten ancient copies of the Ramayana and other Tulsidas literature.
