Museum Introduction
Officially the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, this institution is located in Barrackpore, near Kolkata. Established in 1961 (opened to the public in 1966), it serves as the regional memorial for the Eastern Zone. It is housed in a historic bungalow along the Hooghly River, honoring Gandhi’s frequent visits to Bengal and his work during the freedom struggle.

81-Foot Mural: A massive, continuous mural by artist Dinendranath Brahma depicting the life and message of the Mahatma.
