Museum Introduction

Established in 2004, Gallery Gitanjali is a premier art destination located in Fontainhas, the historic Latin Quarter of Panaji, Goa. Part of the Panjim Inn heritage complex, the gallery is housed in a restored Indo-Portuguese building. It was founded to create a platform for local Goan artists while integrating international art movements, specifically mid-century Scandinavian art.

General Collections

The gallery features a rotating collection of contemporary paintings, etchings, and sculptures. Its repertoire includes a significant selection of Indian modern art alongside a unique permanent collection of Scandinavian mid-century art from the 1950s and 60s. The space also showcases various folk and tribal art forms from across India.

Unique Historical Collections

Scandinavian Mid-Century Collection: A rare curated selection of lithographs and etchings by Swedish and Danish artists. Goan Masters: Works by prominent local artists such as Vamona Navelcar and Querozito de Souza. Indo-Portuguese Heritage: The gallery building itself, featuring traditional oyster-shell windows and colonial-era architectural fusion.
