Located within the Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), Emami Art is one of India's largest and most significant contemporary art destinations. Spread across 10,000 square feet, this purpose-built space in Anandapur, Kolkata, was established to bridge the gap between regional and international art. It serves as a premier platform for both established masters and emerging voices from South Asia, particularly focusing on the artistic lineages of Eastern India.
As a gallery and creative hub, Emami Art does not have a static "collection" in the traditional sense but hosts rotating exhibitions. The repertoire covers a wide spectrum of visual arts, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video art, and installation. It is particularly known for its focus on the Bengal School influence and contemporary interpretations of traditional South Asian aesthetics.
Purvai Series: An ongoing initiative that explores the history of printmaking and art pedagogy in Eastern India. Modern Masters Section: Often features works by luminaries like Jogen Chowdhury, Rabin Mondal, and Dashrath Patel. Experimental Film Festival: A unique annual event dedicated to non-narrative and experimental moving images. Archival Records: Houses significant documentation related to the evolution of modern art in West Bengal.
