Established in 1972, the Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Museum is a serene tribute to India’s third President and a legendary educationist. Located within the Jamia Millia Islamia campus in New Delhi, the complex was designed by renowned architect Habib Rahman. It stands on the very grounds where Dr. Husain served as Vice-Chancellor for over two decades, transforming the institution into a center of nationalistic education.
The museum showcases a detailed collection of personal belongings and professional memorabilia. This includes his academic robes, formal attire, household items, and an extensive collection of rare photographs documenting his meetings with global leaders and his role in the Indian freedom struggle. It also houses his vast collection of personal books and journals.
Bharat Ratna: The original medal of India's highest civilian honor, awarded to him in 1963. Geological Specimens: A unique and personal collection of over 250 rock and mineral specimens, reflecting Dr. Husain's deep interest in geology. The Mausoleum: A striking white marble structure with eight curved, reinforced concrete walls, inspired by Tughlaq-era architecture, housing the graves of Dr. Husain and his wife, Shahjahan Begum.
