Established on April 18, 1954, and inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the Dogra Art Museum is the premier cultural repository of the Jammu region. It is housed in the historic Pink Hall of the Mubarak Mandi Palace complex, once the royal residence of the Dogra dynasty. The museum preserves the artistic, historical, and martial legacy of the Dogra rulers.
The museum boasts a collection of over 7,200 artifacts. This includes a vast range of traditional Dogra costumes, jewelry, metalware, and musical instruments. It also features a significant numismatic section with coins from the Kushan, Mughal, Sikh, and Dogra eras, alongside a large gallery of ancient weaponry.
Basohli Miniature Paintings: A world-renowned collection of over 800 Pahari miniatures, specifically the Rasmanjari series, celebrated for their vibrant colors and Takri inscriptions. Shah Jahan's Golden Bow: An exquisite gold-plated bow and arrow set belonging to the Mughal Emperor. Akhnoor Terracotta Heads: 6th-century Baroque-style terracotta heads excavated from the ancient site of Akhnoor.
