Museum Introduction

The N.B.U. Akshaya Kumar Maitreya Heritage Museum, started in 1962, showcases the rich history and culture of North Bengal. It houses the Raja Rajaram collection and notable Pala-Sena sculptures from the region.Opened to the public in 2006, it highlights the socio-cultural life of the people of undivided North Bengal. The museum connects the past with the present, emphasizing North Bengal’s important role in India’s history.

General Collections

The Archaeological Gallery features stone and bronze sculptures, terracotta, ornaments, and coins. It also displays folk objects, highlighting the artistic and cultural heritage of North Bengal.
