Museum Introduction

Established on July 11, 1958, the museum is situated on the first floor of the Darshani Deori (Clock Tower entrance) of the Golden Temple. It was founded to collect and protect historical artifacts that chronicle the evolution of Sikhism from the era of the ten Gurus to the modern day.

General Collections

The museum features a massive collection of oil paintings by legendary Sikh artists, rare manuscripts in Gurmukhi, ancient coins from the Sikh Empire, and a comprehensive armory of traditional weapons.

Unique Historical Collections

Artifacts of the Gurus: The museum houses the wooden comb (Kangha) of Guru Gobind Singh and his personal arrows. It also features graphic, large-scale paintings depicting the martyrdom of figures like Bhai Mani Singh and Bhai Taru Singh, illustrating the sacrifices made during the Mughal and British periods.
