Museum Introduction

Established in 1917 alongside the Bose Institute, the museum was personally started by Sir J.C. Bose to display the instruments he designed. It is located in the historic Rajabazar (Main) Campus, a building known for its fusion of Hindu, Buddhist, and modern architectural motifs.

General Collections

The collection is split into biographical and scientific sections. It houses personal memorabilia, rare photographs, and original laboratory equipment used to prove that plants have feelings and to pioneer wireless communication.

Unique Historical Collections

Original Microwave Apparatus: The museum holds the original equipment Bose used in 1894 to demonstrate the first wireless transmission of electromagnetic waves (microwaves). It also features his Crescograph, an incredibly sensitive instrument capable of magnifying plant growth up to 10 million times.
