Established in 1954 by the Birla family, it was envisioned to bridge the gap between theoretical science and practical application. It is situated in the Vidya Vihar campus of BITS Pilani. The museum is unique for being one of the few large-scale science museums in India funded and managed entirely by a private trust.
The museum houses a wide array of working models, illustrative charts, and dioramas across several specialized galleries: Human Biology, Electronics, Mining, Space, and Arms & Weapons. It effectively traces the evolution of Indian industry and scientific thought.
First Micro-processing Robot: The Electronics Gallery proudly houses the first-ever robot in India based on micro-processing technology. The museum also features a Musical Fountain controlled by a keyboard and a realistic Mining Gallery that simulates underground mineral extraction.
